ReSkate Custom Maps: Find, Install, and Play Them
Everything about ReSkate custom maps: where the community posts them, how to install, how map sessions work, and load-failure fixes.

Custom maps are the biggest draw of the ReSkate mod platform. The base skate. pre-alpha ships with a limited set of parks, and the community answered that within weeks: by mid-October 2026 there were already more than 200 ReSkate maps to skate, from floating mega-parks to faithful recreations of Skate 3 spots. This guide shows where those maps live, how to install them, and how to run them in sessions with friends.
Where ReSkate maps are posted
Map authors post where the community gathers. The ReSkate Discord is the active hub, with map channels that show screenshots, version history, and author feedback in one scroll. Thunderstore packages some of the popular maps with clean versioning, and the skatemods.com community site catalogs maps alongside mods for other skate games. When you find a map you like, note its version number and which ReSkate release it targets; that pairing decides whether it loads cleanly.
Repack sites that mirror "reskate maps" bundles without an author name are not worth the risk. A stale bundle wastes your time at best. Get maps where the author posted them.
How to install a custom map
Installing a ReSkate map follows the same path as any mod, with one extra restart:
- Set up ReSkate itself first (download guide).
- Unzip the map into the mods folder the launcher manages.
- Launch skate. through the ReSkate launcher.
- Press Insert, find the map under the maps section, and load it.
- Give the session a moment to swap; big parks stream in assets on load.
If the map loads to a black screen or kicks back to the main park, see the fix section below before blaming your install.
Playing custom maps with friends
Maps are where ReSkate multiplayer shines, with one rule: everyone in the session needs the same map version, or the session desyncs. The practical routine for a group:
- Agree on the map and version in advance.
- Everyone installs it and confirms it loads solo.
- One player opens a private lobby through the ReSkate menu; the multiplayer guide covers lobby types.
- Skaters join, the host loads the map, and the session moves together.
A player missing the map gets dropped or frozen at the swap, which looks like a bug but is just a version mismatch. Fix it by syncing installs, not by reinstalling ReSkate.
When a map fails to load
Work through this order: update ReSkate to the newest release, update the game, re-download the map's current version, enable any script mods it lists as required, then test the map alone in an offline session. If it still fails, the map is broken on your build; disable it. Map crashes that happen across every map point at the platform instead; the troubleshooting guide covers that end of the problem.
FAQ
- How many ReSkate custom maps are there? Over 200 within the first weeks, and growing.
- Why does a custom map crash on load? Almost always a version mismatch between the map, ReSkate, and the game build.
- Can I make my own maps? Yes; authoring tools and help are on the community Discord and GitHub.
